This month, I spent an afternoon with rising golf star Albie Beeston at North Hants Golf Club, discovering the story behind one of the club's most exciting young talents.
Ahead of the North Hants Junior Sponsors' Golf Day, Albie sat down with Kevin Matthews to discuss how the club's junior programme has provided a platform, guidance and support for him and many other aspiring young golfers.
At just 17, Albie is already making a name for himself in competitive golf. Currently in his second year of A-levels at Peter Symonds College, he is preparing for an exciting next chapter: heading to Rutgers University in New Jersey, USA, next summer to continue his golfing and academic journey.
Champion of Champions at Woodhall Spa
With a handicap of +5, Albie's recent form has been exceptional, including victory in the Boys' County Champion of Champions at Woodhall Spa last month.
Competing on the renowned Hotchkin Course, Albie produced a sensational birdie-eagle finish to card a four-under-par round, forcing a playoff against Nottinghamshire's William Psenko. Demonstrating remarkable composure under pressure, Albie secured the title on the fourth playoff hole.
It's an impressive achievement for any golfer, let alone someone still in the early stages of his career.

More than just a golf swing
Walking the fairways of North Hants with Albie gave me the opportunity to get to know the person behind the golf swing.
Away from the competition and the impressive results, I found a modest, polite and quietly confident young man whose demeanour seems well beyond his years.
Perhaps there's something about growing up around a golf club that helps develop these qualities. Spending time around members, coaches and players of different generations can provide young golfers with lessons that extend well beyond the course.
It was a reminder that junior golf development is about so much more than producing talented players. It's also about creating an environment where young people can grow in confidence, learn from others and develop as individuals.
North Hants junior golf: a springboard for the next generation
The junior section at North Hants Golf Club has played an important role in Albie's journey so far, helping provide the environment and support to develop his talent and ambition.
His move to Rutgers University represents the next step in that journey, combining higher education with the opportunity to continue competing at a high level in the United States.

Before then, there's plenty to keep him busy. His calendar is packed with England Golf commitments, alongside practice, competition and the demands of his studies.
I wish him every success over the coming months and beyond.
Albie is clearly a talented golfer with an exciting future ahead of him. But what stayed with me just as much as his golfing achievements was the young man himself.
A great golfer, and a great lad.
